Brand Identity & Venue Marketing
A bold, characterful brand identity for a new Essex venue — distinctive enough to cut through a competitive market, consistent enough to build real recognition, and fun enough to match the energy of the place itself.

The Challenge
Lucky Lizard is a characterful, independent venue in Essex with a big personality and a clear sense of what it wants to be. The challenge was translating that personality into a brand that would be immediately recognisable, work across every format — from the sign above the door to a social media post — and attract the right audience from day one.
The hospitality and entertainment market is visually competitive. Strong branding is not just a nice-to-have — for a new venue with no established reputation, it’s the primary tool for communicating what kind of place you are and why people should come.
Our Approach
We worked closely with the Lucky Lizard team to understand the character of the venue — the vibe, the audience, the experience they were creating. The brand needed to be fun, bold and distinctive without tipping into cliché.
The brand identity we developed is built around a characterful custom illustration of a lizard with real personality — expressive, confident and memorable. The accompanying typography is bold and slightly irreverent, set in a palette of warm tones that work in both light and dark contexts.
We designed for the full range of applications: signage, menus, wristbands, social media templates, POS materials and business cards. The system is flexible enough to work across all of these without needing constant redesign — a brand grid and template set that the team can apply themselves.
Print design covered menus, promotional flyers, table cards and event posters. We also set up a social media visual system with template files the team could use to create consistent, on-brand content themselves.
A pre-launch digital marketing campaign built anticipation on social media and generated a following before the doors had opened.
The Solution
The brand we delivered is everything Lucky Lizard needed — bold, fun, consistently applied and immediately recognisable. The signage makes a statement. The print materials hold up to scrutiny. The social media templates make it easy for the team to post consistently without it looking amateur.
Outcome
Lucky Lizard opened to a full house. The pre-launch social campaign had built a following of over 1,500 before opening night, and the venue was fully booked for its opening weekend. The local press covered the opening and specifically noted the brand as one of the more interesting new venue identities in Essex.
For any new hospitality or entertainment business, a great brand is the first impression that sets expectations for everything that follows.
